Job Overview

We are seeking an Auto-CAD Draftsman (Civil & Electrical) to produce accurate technical drawings, detailed layouts, and as-built documentation for civil and electrical works across construction and infrastructure projects. The role will support project delivery by creating, updating, and coordinating drawings from concept through construction, collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, site teams, and other disciplines to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and constructible.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and develop detailed AutoCAD drawings and CAD deliverables for civil (site grading, drainage, utilities, roads, earthworks) and electrical (power distribution, lighting layouts, cable routing, panel schedules) scopes, following engineering instructions, specifications, and project templates.

• Prepare and issue drawings for design review, coordination, approval, and construction including plans, sections, details, and isometric views as required.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary drawing interfaces (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) to identify clashes and ensure coherent layouts; incorporate design revisions and resolved coordination outcomes into updated drawings.

• Maintain drawing registers, revision control, title blocks, and metadata to ensure consistency with company and client document control procedures.

• Generate as-built and record drawings based on site measurements, surveys, and contractor feedback; validate against design documents and update models/drawings accordingly.

• Assist in converting field sketches, hand measurements, and survey data into accurate CAD drawings; liaise with surveyors and site supervisors to clarify discrepancies.

• Prepare cable schedules, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and electrical panel layouts as directed by electrical engineers; annotate drawings with specifications, material callouts, and installation notes.

• Support quantity takeoffs and Bill of Materials preparation by providing accurate measured drawings and annotated quantities.

• Adhere to CAD standards, layer naming conventions, symbology, and drafting best practices; contribute to improving CAD standards and templates.

• Participate in design coordination meetings, site visits, and construction progress reviews; provide prompt drawing updates in response to changes or RFIs.

• Ensure all CAD deliverables meet quality, safety, and compliance requirements and are provided within project timelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related discipline; Bachelor’s degree preferable but not required.

• Minimum 7 years' experience producing civil and electrical AutoCAD drawings in construction or infrastructure projects.

• Proven track record preparing site layouts, drainage and utility drawings, road details, and electrical schematics for construction use.

• Experience working with engineering teams and site personnel to produce as-built documentation and incorporate field changes.

Technical Skills

• High proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting) is essential; experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with reading and interpreting civil and electrical engineering drawings, specifications, and code requirements.

• Basic knowledge of electrical design conventions (single-line diagrams, load schedules, circuit numbering) and civil drafting conventions (levels, contours, drainage gradients).

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for documentation, schedules, and drawing registers.

• Experience with project document control systems and PDF markup tools for issuing and receiving comments.

• Ability to work with survey data, CSV/GPS imports, and to perform basic coordinate system transformations is advantageous.

Location & Reporting

This position reports to the Design Lead or Engineering Manager and will work closely with project engineers, site construction teams, and document control. The role requires regular presence at project offices and periodic site visits; specific site location and on-site expectations will be provided during recruitment.
