Electrical Project Engineer: lead end-to-end substation projects (SEC), ensuring safe, timely, compliant delivery; coordinate installs, testing, and handover with clear docs.
Job Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer (Electrical) to oversee and deliver electrical scope for construction and commissioning projects. The role involves coordinating with project management, design engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure safe, timely, and compliant execution of electrical works. The engineer will support installation, testing, commissioning, documentation, and handover activities while maintaining quality and safety standards on site.
The Molida sub-station project urgently requires an Project Engr (Electrical) with proven experience in managing sub-station
projects and prior experience work with Saudi Electricity Company.

Key Responsibilities
Overall project execution, planning, and coordination
· Interface with SEC PM, Planning, Protection & Control, and Testing departments
· Review/approval of drawings, BOQs, method statements
· Contract management, scheduling, progress reporting
· Handling SEC site inspections, energization, and handover
Site delivery and technical oversight · Installation and supervision of: o Transformers, switchgear, protection & control panels, LV/MV distribution equipment o Cable laying, termination, jointing, and routing o Earthing, lightning protection, and standby power systems · Coordinate testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities · Prepare and maintain site documentation and as-built records
Provide daily site supervision and technical direction for electrical installations, ensuring work is performed to drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
Translate design requirements into practical installation sequences, method statements, and work permits; prepare risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and testing teams to schedule deliveries, installation, FAT/SAT activities, and commissioning sequences.
Carry out site surveys and inspections; verify as-built conditions, highlight discrepancies, and coordinate design revisions or field changes.
Perform and witness electrical tests (megger, insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, relay testing, functional tests) and compile test and commissioning reports.
Maintain punch lists, installation checklists, cable schedules, and termination records; ensure timely closure of non-conformances.
Update as-built drawings, prepare O&M manuals, and compile handover documentation for client acceptance and operations teams.
Support cost-control by providing material take-offs, progress reporting, and input to resource planning as requested by project management.

· Valid SCE Registration
· Familiar with SEC standards: SAES, SEC Specs, Protection Schemes
· Experience in 33/13.8kV GIS/AIS substations

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent · Minimum 10 years' relevant site experience · Knowledge of NEC/IEC and local electrical codes · Experience with testing and commissioning activities
Academic: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: 10+ years of hands-on site engineering experience on electrical installations, testing, and commissioning for utilities, sub-stations, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of power distribution systems, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, protection relays, motor control centers, earthing systems, and cable management.
Standards & Codes: Familiarity with applicable standards (NEC, IEC, BS, or regional equivalents) and health & safety regulations.
Testing & Commissioning: Practical experience with electrical testing equipment, relay settings, protection coordination, and preparing commissioning documentation.
Tools & Software: Proficient reading electrical drawings and basic CAD/BIM tools; competent with MS Office (Excel, Word) and commissioning/test instruments.
Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination across multidisciplinary teams and client interfaces.
Mobility: Valid driver's license and willingness to work at project sites; ability to travel as required.
Additional Skills
Preferred: Experience with MV/HV substations, relay setting and coordination, SCADA interfaces, and integration with control systems.
Familiarity with project management and site supervision processes, contractor management, and scheduling tools is advantageous.
Certifications such as electrical safety, first aid, OSHA, or NEBOSH are a plus.
Exposure to BIM workflows, cable management software, or asset management systems is beneficial.

Location & Reporting
This position reports to the Project Manager or Engineering Manager and will collaborate closely with project teams, design, QA, and subcontractors. Specific site location and on-site expectations will be provided during the recruitment process.
